An Online Gambling Primer
Online gambling refers to the placing of bets on either sporting events or casino type games by way of the Internet. The term “online gambling” has also been used to refer to the practice of sports betting over the telephone, although this usage is not as widespread as the other definitions at the present time.
The most widely accepted definition of online gambling is when all the activities–from betting, the actual game play and the collection of the money–are done through the Internet. This can involve betting on sports events online, the playing of casino style games, and even other games such as lotteries, keno, and bingo. More recently, the term has also been used to refer to multi player games wherein users play against each other or in teams against other people from all over the world.
Many countries now consider the various types of online gambling as legal, and virtually all of the online casinos in these countries are licensed by the government. Antigua is one such country. They allow online gambling and they regularly issue licenses to people who want to establish online casinos. Kahnawake, which is a Mohawk Territory in Canada, is another example of a district that allows online gambling.
